15/4/2008 - Scunthorpe Steelers 62 v Hull Stingers 60

Steelers win a hard fought contest against Hull Stingers in the Cup Semi Final. Stingers took the lead with good defensive work to win the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter followed the same pattern with the Steelers behind but with 4 seconds on the clock #6 Ross Stafford took a long shot from the half way line,scoring the shot of the season as the buzzer sounded setting the game up for an exciting 2nd half. The 2nd half followed the same pattern with the Steelers eventually winning by 2 points.

In a reverse of the Doncaster league #12 Ioan Nickson has scored 253 points this season against #6 Ross Stafford's 252. Ross dropped 2 long shots taking his total for the season to 54 three pointers.

18/3/2008 - Scunthorpe Steelers 71 v Hull Stingers 56

Steelers lost there away match to the Hawks by 2 points early in the season so were hoping to win the home match and not spoil there run of eleven wins on the trot.
Steelers surged ahead by 10 points from the tip of with no reply from the Hawks but somehow managed to lose the first quarter by 21 points to 12. In the 2nd quarter the Steelers managed to regain some composure to there game and ended the 1st half 2 points in front. The 3rd quarter saw the Steelers taking control of the game giving them an advantage in the 4th to come out eventual winners in what was one of the best games of the season from a spectators point of view.

Todays results put #6 Ross Stafford into the top scorers position with 210 points followed by #12 Ioan Nickson and #23 Kris Michalski both on 192 but Kris has a better average per game of 21.3 points against Ioans 19.2

Steelers start the new year in style winning the Falcons by 22 points after losing to the Falcons by 21 points in the away match last year.

This result makes the Steelers equal 1st place with Danum at the time writing both teams winning 6 games and losing 2, creating an exciting run in to the end of the season.

Steelers are improving every game at the moment and were in top form with a full team turnout against Alverley who had no answer to Steelers domination of the game.

Venue – Hall Cross / Doncaster.

After last weeks disappointing game against the Doncaster Falcons where Steelers lost 75 to 54, Steelers played there first game at the Hall Cross School sports Hall Doncaster.
Once again coach Clark only had a small squad of six players, but to make up for it he had the welcome return of Kris Michalski who was one of last seasons top scorers.
As is now the norm for a Steelers game they started extremely slowly with missed shots and lay ups , much to the annoyance of the coach. With a bigger squad there would have been some substitutions but Steelers eventually came out on top in the 1st quarter 14 points to 9.
The second quarter started with more momentum, Kris Michalski scoring 8 points and Ross Stafford scoring two 3 pointers to help the Steelers win the 2nd quarter 18 points to 7.
The 3rd and 4th quarters saw the Steelers take total control of the game winning the 3rd by 22 points to 13 and the 4th by 34 points to 7 with all the squad on the score sheet.

Coach Clark had the choice of a full squad for the first time this season for this week’s game against Darfield. Steelers started strongly in the 1st quarter with #6 Ross Stafford scoring 3 points in the first few seconds of the game setting the standard in the Steelers camp for a score of 30 points to 17 against a slow starting Darfield.
The 2nd quarter saw end to end scoring with Darfield winning the quarter by two points, #12 Ioan Nickson scoring 12 of the 20 points for the Steelers.
Good defensive work by both teams kept shots to a minimum in the 3rd quarter with Darfield coming out on top 17 points to 11.
With Darfield only 5 points behind at the start of the 4th quarter Steelers pressed the Darfield defence and scored 25 points to 11

Steelers, playing there first game in two weeks after last week’s cancellation against the Hawks lose 55 to 53 against Hull Stingers.

Coach Ian Clark only had a squad of 6 players due to the half term holidays, injuries and several team members going back to university.

In the 1st quarter due to good defensive work by the Stingers and poor shooting by the Steelers it took 4 minutes before #10 Ross Stafford scored a 3 pointer to get the Steelers of the mark, eventually going behind by 5 points at the end of the 1st.

After the slow start Steelers were more organised in the 2nd quarter with #22 Nana Jumah and #10 Ross Stafford finding there range winning the 2nd by one point.

Stingers came into the 3rd quarter applying pressure and scoring 8 points in 2 minutes with no reply from the Steelers, Stingers winning the 3rd 17points to 9.

With there backs to the wall Steelers came out in determined mood in the 4th quarter and with all team members scoring were only 2 points down with a minute to go and Stingers in possession. #14 Ian Clark fouled out with 10 seconds to go and the Stingers ran the clock down to win by 2 points in an exciting last quarter.

Steelers start the second game of this years league in confident mood after last weeks win.Once again Steelers were ahead in all 4 quarters but only by one point at half time after a comeback by the Devils in the 2nd quarter.In the 3rd quarter the Steelers edged in front by 10 points followed by good defensive work in the 4th which allowed the Devils to only score 7 points against the Steelers 26.

10/10/2007 - West Hull Warriors 64 Scunthorpe Steelers 73

Under the guidance of player/coach Ian Clark the Steelers senior team
start this year’s campaign with a win over West Hull Warriors 73 points to 64.

Steelers were without last year’s two top scorers Jason Milner who has gone to university and Kris Michalski due to Illness. Four new players join the successful team from last year, Ross Safford, Neil Walker, Joe Morris and Ioan Nickson. In what was a close hard fought game Steelers won all 4 Quarters, edging 9 points clear in the last.

3rd quarter 54 points to 51
4th quarter 73 points to 64.

Top scorer # 6 Ross Stafford, four 3 pointers helping Ross Score total of 19 points. #14 Ioan Nickson scoring 14, and #4 Robin Hewson, #9 Neil Walker both scoring 12 points
